 ouse Kitchen Garden as we step back into time to discover the danger and 
 mystery hidden within the 18th century garden.\n\nJoin Park Historical Ho
 rticulturist Anna Davis for a twilight exploration of the plants that liv
 ed on the darker edge of the colonial garden. In the 18th century\, garde
 ns were more than places of beauty and food\; they were also sources of p
 owerful medicines\, protective herbs\, dyes\, and occasionally plants wit
 h dangerous reputations.\n\nDuring this atmospheric evening walk\, discov
 er the fascinating stories behind herbs believed to ward off evil\, plant
 s that could heal or harm depending on their use\, and the folklore that 
 surrounded everyday garden plants in early America. From bitter wormwood 
 to the deep red dyes of madder root\, the colonial kitchen garden holds m
 ore mystery than you might expect.\n\nThis special twilight program is of
 fered just before the park’s October 30th Lantern Tour and provides a uni
